Training of Trainers Workshop

The ministry of Mass Media has decided to conduct a training of trainers workshop for making it easy to make aware the public on the right to information act on the 04th, 05th ,and

6th of July 2019. This programme was organized by the RTI division of the Ministry with the guidance of the Hon. Minister of the Ministry of Mass Media, Ruwan Wijewardhane and instructions of the Secretary to the Ministry, Mr. Sunil Samraweera.

Accordingly, this training of trainers (TOT) workshop was conducted at the Jetwing Beach Hotel, at Poruthota Road, Eththukala, Negambo (04, 05 and 06.07.2019) with the sponsorship of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Inauguration session was started at 6.00 p.m. on 04.07.2019 while the Additional Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. U.P.L.D. Pathirana delivered the welcome speech and objective of the workshop. Subsequently, the Secretary to the Ministry addressed the gathering and the Technical Advisor of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Mrs. Chamindri Saparamadu too delivered a speech. Thereafter the, programme was inaugurated.

Approximately, fifty (50) government officers already been trained regarding the right to information participated in this workshop. Attorney – at – Law, Mr. Jagath Liyanarachchi and the former Director of the Right to Information Commission, Mr. Piyatissa Ransinghe participated in the event as resource persons.

Director of the Ministry of Mass Media, Mr. J. W. S. Kithsiri and the Assistant Secretary to the Ministry Mr. M. P. Bandara participated in this workshop along with some other officers and as the coordinator from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), its Management and Coordination Consultant, Mrs. Naulie Wimalarathne participated.
